The program is “Egypt…. Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace.” It will be tons of fun as we’ll be setting up a marketplace with lots of shops, making crafts and costumes, singing and being part of Bible stories. The Third Lutheran Church will be the host church with Rhinebeck Reformed and Messiah co-hosting. This is a community Vacation Bible School and all are welcome.

We need lots of teen and adult volunteers. We are still in the organization stage, so watch for news on specific ways you might like to get involved. Parents, this is a great opportunity to share a special week with the kids in our community, our home church and your own children.

Currently we are in need of ‘E-Z Up” canopies or tents to create our marketplace. If you have one we can borrow for the week, please call Laurie Craft at 229-5681.

In the Diocese we have a wonderful resource! We have a 700 acre camp called Incarnation with a pristine mile long lake. The activities and the leadership at the Camp are on a par with private camps costing 3 times what Incarnation charges because the camp is sponsored by generous churches in the Diocese. Incarnation is a values oriented camp, which makes chapel and grace at mealtimes an integral part of the fun. Of course the 100 foot water slide and the 60 animals on the farm continue to be wildly popular. The separate teen-age camp (Pioneer Village) has been celebrated in the New York Times by long-time camp alumni David Brooks. Incarnation is the oldest co-ed camp in the country, and it is only 2 hours from Manhattan. We encourage all church families to review the camp’s web-site (www.incarnationcamp.org) or pay a visit to Incarnation. Call 860-767-0848 for an appointment or to speak to Camp Director Karen Fairbairn.

March 27, 2010

Presented by Bruce Gardiner, Hosted by Br. Charles, n/OHC; Saturday, Mar 27, Holy Cross Monastery, West Park

Centering Prayer is a method of response to God’s invitation to enter into loving intimacy and relationship. The practice prepares us to be open, available, and present God’s action and presence in the innermost recesses of our being. It facilitates a process of interior transformation initiated by God and leading, as we consent, to divine union. Centering Prayer facilitates both the deepening of our personal relationship with Christ and release from the attachments that hinder development of this relationship, through contemplation and the unfolding of the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love. The fruits of Centering Prayer are naturally and gradually experienced in daily life with increased ability to cheerfully love and serve God and neighbor. TO REGISTER: Suggested donation for the workshop, including materials, refreshments and lunch is $35. Make checks payable to Holy Cross Monastery. Send to Guesthouse, Holy Cross Monastery, PO Box 99, West Park, NY 12493. For more information or to register, you may call 845-384-6660, ext 3002. Or e-mail guesthouse
@
hcmnet.org.

The planning has begun for our community VBS and we’re deciding between two programs. For one program, we will need a minimum of ten ‘E-Z Up” canopies. If you have one we can borrow for the week, please call Laurie Craft at 229-5681 ASAP so we know if we can pursue this exciting option. The tentative date is July 26th - 30th.

The Third Lutheran Church is the host church this summer with Rhinebeck Reformed and Messiah co-hosting. We have had great fun in the past with super kids attending and many, many great teen and adult volunteers helping. In planning your summer, think about being part of VBS…and bring a friend! This is a community Vacation Bible School and all are welcome.
