We’ll be outside in the garden so dress appropriately.

The 6-hour NY State defensive driving course will once again be offered to Messiah parishioners. This course will be held on Saturday, July 26th from 9AM-3PM in the parish hall. Completion of the course entitles participants to a 10% discount off their automobile insurance premium and/or up to 4 points off their license. If interested, call Su in the office to sign up 876-3533. The company will donate $20 of the cost of the course, which is $50 per participant, to Messiah.

Sign up your children from K-5 for Vacation Bible School, held at the Reformed Church this year from July 28-Aug. 1. The program runs from 8:45 am-12:15 pm and lunch is served each day. Cost is $20 for one child; $35 for 2 children; $50 for 3 or more. Registration forms are available in Donegan Hall or you can register online at https://www.groupvbs.com/webtoybox/myvbs/rhinebeckvbs. Monday, July 14th at Millbrook Golf and Tennis Center. Sign up for lunch, golf, and/or dinner. The guest speaker at the dinner will be acclaimed political reporter Michael Kramer, formerly of the NY Times and Daily News. He will speak about how the media is covering the 2008 presidential campaign. Costs: golf and lunch and dinner:—$150; dinner only—$100; sponsor a tee or green— $150; sponsor a tee and green—$250; sponsor a cart—$50. On Saturday, July 12th at 6 pm, vocalist Aimee Steele will present “An Evening of Song,” a program of operatic arias and Broadway show tunes including works by Lehar, Puccini, Kerns, Gershwin, and many others. The concert will be held at the Rhinebeck Reformed Church. Suggested donation is $10.00. All proceeds benefit the Rhinebeck Reformed Church. For further information, call 876-3727.

The Reverend Cannon Thomas Orso, Canon for Deployment from the Episcopal Diocese of New York will be at the vestry meeting this Tuesday evening (July 8 ) in Donegan Hall at 7:00 pm to discuss and begin the process of transition for Fr. Jerry’s retirement. Vestry meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend.

Everyone is invited to the dedication of the building for Jayne & Bob Brooks at Ramapo for Children on July 8th. There will be tours of the campus before the dedication, which will be at 12 noon, followed by a luncheon to honor the work that Jayne & Bob have done for the camp over the past ten years. If you have already RSVP’d to Su in the office, you need not call the camp. However, if you have not yet responded and would like to attend, please RSVP by tomorrow to Camp Ramapo (876-8403).

Come to Moms’ Night Out on Friday, June 13, 6-8 pm. in the Parish Hall. This is purely a social event. Good fun, good food, good conversation, and most of all NO KIDS! Please bring a beverage (wine, soft drink, seltzer, etc) and a finger food to share. Call Susan Rohrmeier 758-3994 or Colleen Foster 758-9704.

This year’s service will be held at Good Shepherd. Father Jerry encourages all graduating seniors and their families to attend this service on Thursday, June 19th at 5:00 pm prior to the Senior Send-off Dinner.

The next meeting of the Mad Dash committee will be held on July 1 at 7:00 pm in Donegan Hall.

The annual Flea Market will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Set up will begin at 7:00 AM. Each space is approximately 12’ X 12’ and costs $20.00 per space. 99% of the spaces are outside. There are a few indoor spaces that can be reserved on a first-come first-served basis. You must provide your own table(s), chair(s), and pop-up tent if you want them. Call the office to reserve your space. All are invited to a FREE performance at the Hudson Opera House at 327 Warren Street, Hudson, today at 2:00 PM. The play, written by award-winning New Orleans playwright Rosary O’Neill (now one of our parishioners), is called “Beckett at Greystones Bay.” The part of Samuel Beckett will be played by Robert Burns (also a member of our parish).

A reception to welcome those individuals and families who have joined our parish family over the past two years will be held on June 1 after the 10:00 service. More details will follow, but please save this date on your calendar and plan to attend.

Want some good company, good fellowship, good times, and good food? Then come to Messiah’s Annual Progressive Dinner on Saturday, May 17th. We will begin with appetizers at Gloria and Rocky Lagno’s house at about 6:00. Then at 7:15-7:30 we will all head over to Leslie and Jeff Weichsel’s house for the main course and dessert. Can’t make both? That’s OK…come to whichever one you can.
There are sign up sheets in the Parish Hall and on the Memorial Altar. Please let us know how many are coming so we can better plan. Also please sign up to bring an appetizer, main dish, or dessert to share.

This year the Rhinebeck Reformed Church (6368 Mill Street, at the corner of Rt 9 and South Street) will be the host for our Community Vacation Bible School which is held each year in partnership with Third Lutheran Church and Church of the Messiah. Our website is now running for VBS registration of participants and volunteers. Our Community Vacation Bible School is scheduled to be held from July 28th - August 1st from 8:45 AM until 12:15 PM with lunch being provided. The Program chosen is “Power Lab - Discovering the Miraculous Power of Jesus!”- designed for children K thru 5th grades. If you have a nursery school age child who would like to participate, you might consider volunteering as a group leader so that they feel comfortable attending.
