The Mid Hudson Larreynaga Sister City Benefit Dance is slated for Saturday, November 13 ,2010.  Live Latino Dance Music and refreshments provided. The proceeds from this dance are dedicated to the needy children and village of our sister city in Larreynaga, Nicaragua. A celebration of the life and art of the internationally acclaimed artist, respected judge and most of all beloved partner, will take place in Messiah’s Parish Hall this Saturday, September 11^th from 1pm to 5pm.

Harold Elmendorf, Donald’s life partner of 35 years, will be sharing many prominent works with us, including sculpture, pottery, painting and writing.

If you are unable to attend on Saturday, there will be a limited showing in the parish hall on Sunday after each service.

On Saturday, Dec. 4^th at 11:00 AM at Messiah, The Rt. Reverend Mark Sisk will install The Reverend Richard McKeon as Rector of the Church of the Messiah. The installation will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. All are welcome to both the service and the reception. Details to follow.

Celebration of Creation and the Hudson River: On Sun., Sept. 19^th a 10:00 service will be held at Linwood followed by a Parish Picnic. Details to follow.

The Harris Smith Post and the Sons of the American Legion will hold the Bill (Doc) Dunn & Coleman Hagadorn Annual Golf Tournament at the Dinsmore Golf Course on Friday, August 13^th. The proceeds will benefit the food pantries in Red Hook, Rhinebeck, and Germantown including ours at Messiah. The $85 per person fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch on the turn, and a Beef BBQ at the Legion immediately following the day of golf. To register, please call Tom Mabie at 758-1330.

The members of our Linda A. Karr Cuddle Blanket group have been working hard all year long to create over 200 beautiful quilts to be given away to the needed children who attend Camp Ramapo. All are invited to join them at the giveaways at Ramapo. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget. This summer’s giveaways will be held at Ramapo at 6:30 pm on July 7, July 28, and August 18.

For more than 30 years, the Summer Youth Conference has provided teens in the Diocese of New York with a spiritual retreat in a summer camp setting. Activities, sports, singing, worship, play, discussion and more are all part of this exciting week. This program is for youth in 6^th grade through those entering the first year of college. Registration forms with contact information are on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall.

Our community Vacation Bible School will be held at the Lutheran Church from July 26-July 30 from 8:45 until 12 noon. Our Family Time Leaders will guide families: through: Celebration worship, Family time, Marketplace shops (crafts, food, and a special mission project), Visits with Joseph, Pyramid Playground games, Outreach, Storytelling, caring for animals in our Animal Courtyard and lots of celebrating. Our Egyptian chef will prepare an authentic Egyptian lunch for us to experience each day. We need a few more adult and teen volunteers to help things run smoothly. Step back in time and bring ancient Egypt to life right here in Rhinebeck!  You’ll really enjoy this VBS!
