St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Fifth Avenue, Choir in concert at St. Mary’s-In-Tuxedo Episcopal Church : Friday, February 27, 2009, 7 p.m. No need to go into The City to hear this world renowned choir. The Tuxedo Performing Arts Group (TPAG) and St. Mary’s will sponsor this musical group right in the beautiful St. Mary’s Nave. Admission by ticket only. Come this Tuesday for a yummy pancake supper hosted by the choir. We will be serving from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm. A free will offering will be taken to defray the cost of the supper. Suggested donation is $5 per adult or $10 for a family, but any amount is acceptable.
Services will be held and ashes will be imposed this Wednesday at 9:00 am and 7:30 pm.
We will be distributing a very large amount of used children’s clothing that was recently donated to us, this coming Friday in the church hall –distribution will coincide with food pantry hours (12-2 pm). Sizes of clothing range from 0 – 12 years old – All clothing is in excellent shape and is free of charge! Please spread the word to those in need. Also – Scouting for Food Drive coming soon- Please stay tuned for more info to come!!!!
This month the proceeds from the Third Thursday Luncheon (Thursday, February 19th) will go to River Haven, the homeless shelter for teens in Poughkeepsie. All are invited to attend. Bring your friends and drop in between 11:30 and 1:00 to enjoy a wonderful lunch. Workers and bakers are always welcome. Baked goods should be dropped off at the parish hall before 11:00 am – or they can be dropped off between 5:00 and 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 18th.
On Saturday, February 21 at 4:00 p.m. the Community and Spirit Committee will be showing Shadowlands, a movie about the life of C.S. Lewis starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger. The movie will be shown in the church hall and will be followed by a potluck and discussion. We’ll provide soup and bread. There is no admission charge, but please call 266-4381 to tell us you’re coming so that we have enough food. If you need childcare, you must call so that it can be arranged ahead of time. Next Sunday, February 15th will be the first Sunday of the Rev. Jay Hanson’s term as Interim Rector. Please bring a covered dish to share and join us after the 10:00 service for an extended welcome for Jay and his wife, Madge.
Under the direction of Dr. Edward Lundergan, Kairos will present the first cantata in their 2009 Bach Cantata Series with a performance of Bach’s Cantata No. 72, “Alles nur nach Gottes Willien ” (Everything only according to God’s will), with chamber orchestra, on Sunday, February 22, 2009, 4PM, at Holy Cross Monastery, Route 9W, West Park, New York. Concert is free and open to the public. |
