The Church of the Messiah is rich with opportunities for participation in a wide range of activities. As is the case in a lot of organizations, many of these activities have become dependent on the work of only a few people. This situation raises questions about the sustainability and possibilities for growth of these activities. How can new people be attracted to participate in a project? How can they be nurtured, trained and retained? What stands in the way of helping more people be involved? How can the benefits of contributing to an activity be communicated?
In this half-day workshop (12:30 to 5 p.m. on January 30), we will review some concepts of “recruitment and retention;” discuss how those concepts apply to Messiah and begin to make a plan for sustainability for each activity represented in the group. All current committee members (i.e. Sunday School, Homeless Shelter, Sister City Project, Movie Night et.al.) are invited to attend. Interested? Please call Ron Hirsch at 876-7802 to get more information. Lunch provided!!
