A message from Rev. Jay HansonWe have all seen the devastation done in Haiti. This message from our Bishop best reflects our thoughts and prayers. If you would like to make a contribution, the Bishop’s recommendations are below. You may send donations direct or place them in the collection plate and we will send them out. Special Offering envelopes are available on the Memorial Altar and in the Parish Hall for this purpose. Please DO NOT make checks payable to Messiah. The diocese has warned us that there are fraudulent emails circulating from someone purporting to be Bishop Jean Zache Duracin. Canon Robertson suggests the safer way to donate is through Episcopal Relief and Development (below) or through an organization that you are absolutely certain is who they claim to be. The Earthquake in Haiti: A Message from Bishop Sisk January 13, 2010 For any community an earthquake as devastating as the one that struck Haiti on January 12 would be a disaster on a massive scale. For the people of Haiti, already struggling with a level of poverty incomprehensible to most of us in the United States, it is truly catastrophic. I urge you to join with me in prayer for the dead and the injured, for those in Haiti who survive amid ruins, and for our Haitians brothers and sisters here in the Diocese of New York, who have loved ones at home. I urge you also to contribute in a practical way by sending donations to help the people of Haiti either through the Diocese or through Episcopal Relief and Development. Faithfully yours, • Donations through the Episcopal Diocese of New York: The Episcopal Diocese of New York Make a credit card donation online [at http://www.dioceseny.org/payment_form] and type “Haiti Relief” in the description box. • Donations through Episcopal Relief and Development: Comments are closed. |
